Elision

When a /t/ or /d/ sits sandwiched between two other consonants, it often disappears completely — the mouth simply skips the effort of producing it. This is not lazy speech; it's standard, fluent British English.

Mastering Contractions

Contractions aren't casual shortcuts — they're the default, professional way educated British speakers talk. Using full forms constantly ("I am", "do not", "it is") sounds stiff, over-formal, or robotic. Save the full form for deliberate emphasis.

The /t/ never had a chance

Squeezed between the /s/ of "next" and the /d/ of "day," the /t/ sound gets skipped entirely — your tongue simply moves from the /s/ position straight to the /d/ position. Try saying "next day" slowly, then fast, and feel the /t/ vanish.
